Miller’s Mastiffs and Bulldogs is owned by Bart and Jennifer Miller located in Richmond, Virginia. Other owners include Lauryn and Katelyn Miller, but they are currently too young to do much more than love and play with all of our dogs and puppies. But they are showing great potential and interests as future breeders and handlers! To give you a brief history:

Miller’s Mastiffs and Bulldogs began in 1988 with our foundation bulldog bitch, Pumpkin. Pumpkin was a very true to standard red and white bitch with an adorable personality. Pumpkin had her one litter in 1990 producing very nice offspring. Our foundation stud was Miller’s Mighty Meatloaf (“Meat”), who was purchased also in 1990. Eventually Meat was bred to one of Pumpkin’s offspring, and Miller’s Bulldogs was up and running.

During the course of his life, Meat produced multiple litters including one very special puppy named Rawhide. Rawhide was in many ways the greatest bulldog we have ever produced. Rawhide was first and foremost a great family dog, and was loved by all who knew him. He was like an icon to us, going to work with Bart on an almost daily basis. Rawhide became a cornerstone in the development of the Miller Bulldog bloodline. We feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to know and love Rawhide for 12 plus years. During the course of his life, Rawhide produced multiple litters of big beautiful puppies, many of which were used in our breeding program. Beef, Banjo, and Dandi are and were some of our wonderful dogs produced by Rawhide.

Daisy was Rawhide’s sister and littermate. Daisy was instrumental in developing our bloodline as well. Some of our beloved dogs produced by Daisy were Dolly, George, and Mable. Of these, Dolly is the only one still with us, and she is the senior member of our Bulldog family. Our current line-up of Bullies also includes more distant offspring of Rawhide and Daisy; Meatball, Matilda, and Sherman.

We purchased our first Mastiff, Thunder, in 1991. Though never bred, Thunder was a very handsome Apricot Brindle with a beautiful typey head – thanks to Old School Mastiffs! In 1995, we purchased our foundation bitch, Delilah. Delilah grew up to be a truly magnificent dog with superb size and structure. She stood 33” at her withers and weighed in at 200 lbs lean and mean in her prime. Despite her great size, she was always extremely athletic and graceful in movement. Her only problem was that she was a little too headstrong for the show ring, which was unfortunate with all of her potential.

Delilah was bred to Old School Tintigal Blake and gave us two very nice puppies with a lot of type; Tatanka and Lola. Tatanka did very well in the show ring and sired multiple litters during his life with us. Lola was well on her way to championship, having just won a major when she developed mammary cancer at the age of four. As result, she underwent a partial mastectomy and was spayed to insure that she lived on with us as a family member.

Lola produced two litters in her lifetime. Godiva was the pick female that we kept from a breeding with Ch Semper Fi Stonewall. Godiva is beautiful brindle girl resembling Delilah in many ways structurally. She is on the shy side and has never enjoyed participating in dog shows, and so we decided not to make her show. Godiva was bred to Ch Old Schools Junior to produce perhaps our best puppy to date; Ch Miller’s Big Bad Bacchus. Bacchus has made it to number 17 in the AKC national rankings this year (2007). Bacchus is a very large, muscular dog with impeccable movement. His first born son is Ch Miller’s Big Bad Baron of Victory from a breeding with Victory’s Sweet Dreams. Baron recently earned his championship by going Best of Winners for a 5 point major at the Old Dominion supported entry show in Leesburg – and at 12 months of age!! He is still maturing and improving with each passing week. We also have Logan and Diana, two young girls showing much promise, out of Bacchus and our girl Jezebel. Jez is a beautiful fawn girl purchased from Victory Mascotts. Baron and Logan have recently given us our newest family members, Bigby and Magdeline. They were the pick boy and girl from their litter and are showing tremendous potential as well. We strive to produce dogs exhibiting true Mastiff type with heavy bone and large beautiful heads. We also breed for soundness, movement, and temperment. Please check back to see our newest additions to the Mastiff family and to see current pictures of our dogs as they mature.

Early in 2007 we purchased our first Dogue de Bordeaux female; Bridgette. We have recently added a very impressive male to our household; Mufasa. Both of our Dogues are red with red masks as well.
